Higher Primary School
Loretto School established in
1911 and situated in Bantwal about 30 kms away from Mangalore is
heading towards its centenary. A two-storeyed new school building
which was built with the help of parishioners, Parish Council
Members, donors and well-wishers will be inaugurated on June 1.
Mangalore Bishop Dr Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will bless the occasion
and Francis Fanthom will inaugurate the building. The school which
was founded for the betterment of the village under the patronage of
Modankapu Parish in the beginning provided only primary education
with classes only up to V standard. In 1940 this school came under
the administration of Loretto Church. First Priest of the Church Fr
Charles P Nazareth began building the school and thereafter many
priests who succeeded Fr Nazareth worked hard for its progress and
its overall development.
The new school building
comprises class rooms, staff rooms, office, visitor’s room, computer
lab and kitchen. Surrounded by villages the school provides quality
education to students. In future there are plans to set up English
Medium school, informed Fr Cyprian
